It's not everyday that you get the opportunity to save one life - much less 3! Each pint of donated blood can potentially have that kind of an impact. Join with others from Point of Grace and the Waukee community on Thursday, August 26th, when Point of Grace hosts its 2nd Annual Red Cross Blood Drive. Please make plans to participate as a donor or a volunteer. On Monday, August 9, there will be a send-off for Detachment 1, Company C, 334th Brigade Support Battalion. This is a group of approximately 340 soldiers who will be deploying to Iraq along with other battalions as part of the largest deployment of Iowa soldiers. There are several families at Point of Grace who will be affected.

Make plans to join in this send-off on Monday, August 9, 2010, 10:00 a.m. at Veteran's Memorial Auditorium (703 3rd St., Des Moines).

The Waukee Area Christian Food Pantry’s annual School Supply Drive is underway! Our goal is to equip each student who needs it with a back pack complete with their needed school supplies. We do this by matching each student with a sponsor. The sponsor acquires the needed items on their list and returns them to the pantry so they can be picked up on distribution day. If you, your small group, or office team would like to sponsor a student(s) this year please contact the food pantry at 321-0894 or e-mail info@WaukeeChristianServices.org (please note the new e-mail address!). Parents of students who need assistance can contact the food pantry for more information.

The Waukee Area Christian Free Clinic will hold their 2nd Annual Free Clinic on Saturday, July 31, from 9 a.m. to noon. Registration can be done in advance at the Food Pantry (1155 SE Boone Dr., Waukee) Mondays 4-6 p.m. or Thursdays, 9-11 a.m.or by calling 515-321-0894.

School physicals, including pre-school and sports
physicals
• Dental screenings
• Vision screenings
• Immunizations
• Lead testing
• Health insurance information, including Hawk-I
applications
• Family Community Agency referrals as needed
