Child Baptism

The Bible tells us that after you ask Jesus to come into your life and forgive your sins, you should be baptized (Acts 8:12; Matthew 28:18-20). Baptism is an outward picture to everyone who is watching that Jesus has already forgiven you, cleansed you on the inside, and now you are ready to follow and obey Him.

Children’s understanding of a real and lasting relationship with Jesus Christ can come at different maturity levels, so in order to provide you and your child with information and to determine if they are ready for this important decision, we offer a child baptism class (which all children whom are being baptized are required to participate in).

Download the sheet below to get started (this should be read with the child and a parent).

BAPTISM TESTIMONY

At Point of Grace we believe baptism is for believers, those who have clearly decided to trust Jesus alone for their forgiveness and salvation.  If this is true of you, please write a paragraph** or two describing how and when you decided to trust Jesus, using the following guidelines:

  • What was your life like before you decided to believe in Jesus? (How did you feel when you did something wrong?  Were you afraid or lonely?)
  • Describe what happened that made you want to ask Jesus to come into your life?  When did you do this?  Who were you with?
  • What is different in your life now?  Do you feel different?  Do you think or act differently?

**If you would like to, you may choose instead to draw a picture of each of these three things, and ask your Mom or Dad to write a few words to explain each picture.

Be sure to bring your writing or pictures to baptism class!
